I realize this may not be a very popular opinion, however I sincerely hope that BJJ is never an Olympic sport. In my opinion, the Olympics spoiled Judo. It will do the the same to BJJ. The way it did this is due to politics with a capital "P". Not to mention constant rule changes and unbelievably biased and crummy reffing. No, please, let BJJ thrive on its own as its own.
I think it would be interesting to see it in the olympics. I also think it would make up a ton of new rules and ultimately make it where only a select few out of the thousands or even millions that train JJ get to show their talent. With that said, my conclusion would have to be to just leave jiu jitsu how it is. Don't make it where there is more rules. Competitions have stiff enough rules as it is. We don't need the olympics coming in and making more demanding rules.
Now that the olympics will be in Brazil 2016 the host country gets to add a sport. Why not BJJ.
Do they really get to add a sport?
yeah, it has Brazil in the name
hi! to all jiu jitsu fanatics out there i would like you to invite to our site which is (((www.bjjedge.com))) Their are many White and Blue belt videos from the 2009 World Jiu Jitsu Championships are all FREE
I say we should make bjj an olympic sport because it will make bjj a much bigger sport. You will attract more possible fighters and fans.
They could just call it Jiu Jitsu.. but really Judo was ruined by getting into the olympics.. the more I think about this the less I like the idea
