Good jokes but must we really bash other sports to legitimize ours?
American Fighter: (n) one who overcomes against all odds, one who never gives up. A person of character who does not accept defeat.
Not really bashing, just pointing out sports that are not considered mainstream/popular or seem to be sports that would not be olympic sports but are.

I'm personally a huge fan of Badminton, ping-pong, and Synchronized swimming. I also like figure skating. Don't be![]()

Yes... That is true. But the ingorant are the majority of people who watch Olympics from the TV. So these ignorants would be the audience that will dictate the future of a sport in Olympics. If ignorant does not like, rules will chance. If ignorant still does not like sport drops out. If ignorant like but does not watch, rules will be chanced again... This has happend to judo and taekwondo and wrestling and boxing... It happends all the time...
This is the reason I don't want BJJ to be Olympic sport. I don't want to lose the basic idea of BJJ for the sake of readings.
If you think I'm stupid or ignorant if I don't ejaculate the moment someone mentions BJJ in Olympis then be so...
Olympic committees and governing bodies change and modify the rules. Judo recently had some rule changes. It was not to make the sport more popular BTW, it was to really prevent grapplers and BJJers from changing the sport into...well grappling and BJJ!
Judo has been very successful and defending Judo. To the point that it is Olympic Judo and no longer Kano Judo many would argue.
BJJ is said to be much closer to the original judo.
So, I agree that Olympic rules have had a impact on the migration of judo to what it is today.
Willl the same thing happen to BJJ? Well, many would argue that it has already happened in many respects, hence why you see the whole pulling guard and guard/ground/back fighting paradigm.
I think it depends on how you want to look at things.
