do you think someone should get their first stripe for just being there for 2 months, but not as good as the rest of the class?
thats what happend today in class and i was wondering what you guys think about it
i wish gb would have tests even for stripes
How many days a week did they train in those Two Months? How old is the person? What kind of condition physically are they in? What makes them not as good as the rest of the class?
Some people just don't improve or learn as quickly as others, and sometimes giving them something they may not deserve motivates them to try much harder then before.
Also what are you doing to help them improve?

You don't get awarded stripes for who you can beat. You get awarded stripes for what technique you have learned to apply.

he probably trains at least 4 times a week, hes in his 20s, big
he's always out of breath and ive trained with him before and he wasn't really good at applying techniques. man i feel like an asshole now after reading your guys's posts
o well
do u think instructor's get mad when you do moves that havent been taught at the school?

WTF? After 6 months of training i got one stripe. this guy gets it in two months?
wtf!
Dude! Who cares!? It's a stripe on a white belt. That's a long way from black belt. Keep training hard and don't worry about how/when others get promoted.

I don't concern myself with how often other ppl get stripes ect. Cuzz quite honestly i dgaf =|. lol.
Philosophies and Promotions differ from Academy to Academy, from Instructor to Instructor. If someone is training 4 days a week they are probably just a slow learner or they are just not repping the basics as much as they should. I agree with several others about the stripe issue. In the larger spectrum of things it really isn't that important. Rank finds the Practitioner. Above all the training is what is most important. Your Belt just holds your Kimono together.
Your Opponent is never as Strong as you think.
Your Opponent is never as Weak as you think.

after all, its just a belt

Its all based upon your instructors preceptions.. Some people may know technique but are just not good at applying it in in rolling or competition yet they understand everything about the technique and can break it down and show others how to do it. but can not actually apply it themselves.. this may be the case.. Not everyone is cut out for competition, just because he does not apply the skill well rolling does not mean he does not know it.
