One thing that ticks me off is when promotion time comes around theirs always someone who swears they deserve a belt promotion and when they don't get it all they do is complain , complain, complain.. Does anyone have any stories of people getting upset over no belt promos...
I've got a few where I thought I should have been promoted before someone, but it doesn't bug me anymore. I do have one though where 2 of the older kids in the kids class got promoted at the same time. They both started at the same time, but one of them started taking the adult classes too. When it came time for promotions, The one that started adult classes was promoted to solid yellow, and the other was promoted to yellow-white stripe (we do 3 ranks per color in youth ranks). Yellow-white stripe is one below solid yellow, and he was whining because apparently he's better than him.

Theres always gonna be guys/girls/kids who think they should have gotten promoted before someone else. Its part of life. I definitely hate when people whine and complain about it though. You always get the one who will say to you "can you believe so and so got promoted? I'm better than him and i didnt get promoted." I try to ignore them. Theres a guy at my place who has been a blue belt for about 4 years and every time someone who started after him gets promoted he complains and wont congratulate them. Meanwhile the reason he doesnt get promoted is because he trains like 1 day a week and he really has no technique. He is a big heavy dude that is strong so he will lay on you and try to muscle submissions. Hes the guy that will just squeeze the shit out of your neck even if he doesnt have a choke to try and make you tap. I can honestly say I've never seen him finish anyone with an armbar before.
I hate guys like this. Blue belt is only the intermediate rank, technically, but you should have developed some level of technique. I'm a blue belt and I would say I have a game more like a purple belt and I think I could be a legit one just because I've been training so long, but I could care less since it's not my choice. And if you are a blue belt you should have learned by then that people get promoted at a different rate. I used to let it get to me alot. All thats gonna do is hold him back though for being a poor sport.

how bout those guys that whine that they DID get promoted... i'm gonna try to avoid my next promo for sure b/c i don't think i deserve my current rank as it is...
Ahhhh man do I dislike big dudes who have no technique and lay on you the entire time , there's a few at our gym, one who gets on top of you and goes straight for Ezekiel choke , he's like 45 years old and feels the need to tell everyone he submits with it what technique he used ..lol don't get me wrong all the guys at the gym I attend are really cool and I like all the different personalitys but the ones that who are negative and not happy for others need to be a bit less selfish and more positive..
I have heard a few guys that Would wrather put off a promo very few mostly when going from brown to black. I guess it's because we as students always see the black belt as someone above everyone else in skill and when it's your turn for black you kinda don't feel as if though ,or maybe think the time has actually come..
