Good stuff bro. Good luck with it. Diet is definitely the most important thing. Doing BJJ will certainly help with the weight loss. I wish I would have done this when I started BJJ in March 2009. I was 315 and in terrible shape, but with hard work and "torturing" myself the weight started melting off. I was really watching my diet and was losing weight but to speed up the process I did low carb for about 4-5 months. Probably not the best way to do it but it worked for me. I was able to lose about 80 pounds the first year. I continued counting calories since than and all total I am down about 120 pounds or so.

To be honest one of the biggest reasons for losing weight was because of BJJ tournaments. I entered my first tournament after training for about 4 months and was 265 pounds so I was in that 220 and over division. When I got there all the guys in my weight class were like 4"+ taller and 285+ pounds. Now obviously that doesnt mean they were better but it certainly got in my head and I was pretty much defeated before my first match. After that I said I had to get into an actual weight class and finally did. Now I keep trying to get to lighter and lighter weight classes each year.

Anyway sorry about rambling, good luck and i cant wait to see your progress.

Good luck! I find the best thing to do is not buy any junk food or alcohol to begin with. I am so bad at avoiding temptation in the food is in my closet.

Thanks! I don't drink alcohol, but junk food is always in my house with the kids. My wife guilt trips me into keeping it in the house.

This is how I am. I rarely keep anything in the house because I WILL eat it. If I buy something for my daughter I will buy the 100 calorie snack packs.
