I've been thinking about competing again (after 3 years off). The only thing is our local tournaments have the unlimited weight class set at 205 and up. I weigh about 215 and the only people I've ever seen compete in the unlimited class weigh anywhere from 250-280, which I don't stand a chance with. What are some easy ways I can dump weight for a tournament? I don't want to spend the money to enter a tournament unless I know I have a shot at a podium position.

Assuming it hasn't already passed. Cutting fat with the paleo diet is pretty fast. I usually drop 3 to 4 pounds a week going paleo and exercising every day.
For weight cutting you can put on a sweat suit and bike for an hour, you can take a salt bath to draw the water out of you, you can take dandelion root which is a diuretic and causes you to not hold water.
Don't eat any carbs (or as few as you can) for a week before the tournament. No salt for 3 days before the tournament. Cut your food intake in half for the 3 days before the tournament so you have less food in your system.
Dont dehydrate yourself to cut weight for a bjj tournament. I did that once and really regret it. The reason why you shouldn't is because you have to weigh in the same day as your matches, so there is no time to rehydrate like in MMA. It really messes with your energy and conditioning. I agree that a Paleao or no carb diet are good ways to drop weight if you have the time.
