Do any of you guys ever use the single under leg guard pass? If you do is there a way that you use it where you aren't inviting a triangle? The reason I ask is that nobody that I know uses this pass because of the triangle and I just wanted to hear from anybody who uses this pass successfully.
What do you mean by single under leg? Describe it.

You reach back with one hand and which ever leg is wrapped on top of your opponents guard you under hook that leg with one arm to break his guard. You than pressure that leg and pass. It's like a double under stacking pass but with only one arm. Supposedly it is the way they used to teach passing the guard, but because of the triangle risk it is frowned upon, but I have heard of some guys that say it can be used properly and the risk can be nullified.
oh ok. no i dont use it very much. i like standing passes cause i can get away if i need to.

I have been recently trying to implement more standing passes. I used to be afraid of getting swept, but I just stopped caring about that and started going for them with mixed success. I'm sure after trying them for a few weeks I will start to be more successful.
you have to keep one leg back and keep your shoulders behind your knees.

Standing up properly is a big one too. A lot of guys just hop up to both feet, but most will stand up one at a time which I think is much better. I like the way Saulo Ribeiro shows to stand up in his book the way he shows leaves very little chance for having your posture broken down.

Sounds like you are trying to describe the bully pass. The key is to make the pressure on you opponent so great that they end up being forced to let you pass. but the risk of triangle and arm bar are there if you get lazy.

Kind of but I think of the bully pass as more of a defense against a triangle attempt. I used to pass that way but it becomes ineffective on higher belt when I did use that pass I would turn my hips drive my shoulder sideways to throw the leg out of the way. This pass isn't a reaction though you actually reach back and feel whichever leg is on top and then reach under it. I have heard it can be effective if certain key points are followed. I used to try to do it but as you said I would always end up in a triangle.
