This is a question ive had since i started training, as ive progressed ive decided to focus alot on my wrestling, i think it can be the single most important aspect of nogi grappling, and have used it alot in my competitions.

what do you think?
It can help but its not necessary. BJJ is way different than wrestling even if it is no gi, so it doesnt make a huge difference.

I think it would be very helpful because it would give you confidence from the beginning of the match that you can dictate where it goes. If you combine solid wrestling with a good guard pass game I think that would be a very effective strategy. The other option is to focus all effort on the ground and the guard and learn to pull guard with a strategy in mind. I don't think one is better than the other, but I would personally rather have the first skill set especially for no gi.
I grew up wrestling. Sometimes it actually hinders my progress. If you were a wrestler you will have to learn bad habits to break, like giving up your back and leading with your head. Also wrestlers get caught in a lot of triangles and rear naked chokes IMO.
