I'm a Black Belt in BJJ. I also happen to own a company that provides security to some very high-profile clients. Everyday I'm asked about hiring jiu jitsu guys. I think most people believe that providing security has something to do with fighting. Contrary to popular belief, the ultimate goal of security is to remove the Principal from harm’s way in the event of an emergency. Ideally, strong proactive security measures prevent a situation from ever occurring. That's not to say that a mentally and physically strong individual who is quick and flexible is not of great value in the field. In fact, many of our team members are jiu jitsu guys. In an effort to create some understanding of what it takes to be a "bodyguard" or be "tour security" I wrote a book in 2007. It is available for those of you are are interested in the security field.
