    custom fit gi?

Im 6'3" 230lbs but low bf% not fat. my arms are a bit long and my wingspan is 6'8" so arm length is always a problem. I currently have a lucky gi and it fits pretty well for off the shelf. the arms are long enough and the pants are just barely long enough. the problem is with the width and I look like a child wearing my dads sport coat.

the lucky gi is my 3rd gi and fits the best but thats a very loose used term. the pants are waaaay too wide and I have to pull the string through very far every time so the waist band will cinch down tight enough to stay up. the top is way too wide and a bit short. so its folded over, bunched up, and is also sits just barely below my belt. so its a good fit lol.

all my suits and things like that have had to be made to measure so Im not real surprised that a gi is the same.

Ive googled to my hearts content and best I could find is killer bee gis and ive never heard of them. not saying bad, I just like options. I found a couple other brands but it didnt seem like it was a true made to measure, but more of a send us your measurements and we will choose the best fitting gi from our selection.

I like nice stuff but Im not stuck on a certain brand or the cool brand. I want something that is good quality and fits me the way it should be.

thanks in advance for any help.

The only gi that comes to mind is Shoyoroll. They offer a slim fit cut so you can get the A4 slim for example. I have the A3 regular and it fits me perfectly (I am 6' and range 185-190lbs). It is a better fit than the Lucky, more athletic type cut (I have a Lucky as well). The Shoyoroll will not shrink as much as the Lucky. In the Lucky I hve an A4 and was barley able to shrink it down but fits well. I wash all my gis in cold regular cycle and dry them in the dryer.

If you are after brands that will take your measurements and make the gi just to your size I think Ouano charge an extra $30 on top of their regular prices and will do that. They can do some other cosmetic stuff too if you wanted contrast stitching etc. I was going to have one made till I found they charged like $80 to ship to Australia

thanks for the replies. Ill look into ouana. I hear you on shipping to AUS insidious... I have a friend in sydney and the few things I looked into shipping to her were outrageous.

whats the deal with shoyoroll anyway? I dont have much knowledge of a lot of the companies as Im still pretty new, but a few people in my class have gotten shoyorolls. one of the black belts at my school has quite a few of them. Im not sure Im a fan of the exclusivity of them or whatever is going on. its pretty hard to get a hold of one isnt it? limited runs or something along those lines? idk Ill look into them

Shoyoroll has a lot of hype it's true, And yeah they make it deliberately hard to get hold of one to help keep demand up for the product.

They ARE a good gi but remember as long as your gi fits well and doesn't fall apart that's all it needs to do. Having the super cool must have logo on your gi won't make you any better at Jiu-Jitsu.
I have a SYR batch #6 and it's a nice looking gi but I just received a navy Keiko Raca limited edition gi which I think I like better for fit and feel.

Best thing is to ask your class mates if you can have a closer look at their gis, that way you'll have an idea if it's for you or not.

P.S. I've heard some people say that Ouano's changed the design of their light weight gi and it's almost like a plain Shoyoroll.

Speaking about Shoyoroll, they have two new gi's on sale this friday. So looks like its time for those people to snag a few and sell them for 300 dollars on ebay... again

Looks like Budovideos is the only one who is retailing in the USA for Shoyoroll. NHBgear doesn't have these on their site and they are no longer listed as a retailer.

I have the Golden State which I bought myself for my birthday. And yes, it arrived a month late, lol. I do not like the hype around Shoyoroll either and will not be buying another one because of all the hoopla. BUT, I do like the one I have a lot, the top fits perfect, the cut is superior to my other gis without a doubt. The pants are nice too, the drawstring and extra loops especially though the material could have been a shade heavier for my taste. This is my comp gi now. If you are new to Shoyoroll you should also know that each batch is unique, so the fabric can very for example, but the cuts remain the same.
