I'm curious, do any of you guys have a guy that attends class and is a sadistic bastage? What I mean is, he is the one that always manages to be involved in the most injuries or holds a choke a little too long or cranks a sub a little too much and seems to kind of enjoy it? Lets a person tap out for a while and then finally lets go? Any of you instructors out there have to humble a guy like this? maybe single them out? Possibly kick him out of your school? worst part is the guy actually has some skill and is physically powerful and just seems to enjoy "winning" a little too much?

Ive rolled with guys like that at othr gyms, but were lucky enough to not have any guys like that...Usually in grappling guys like that get handled pretty quick, they either lose so much they learn how to roll properly, or their egos cant handle it and they leave...IMO
I have heard of guys described like that before but I have never met one. I would make sure to avoid people like that. One guy I heard about actually caused a guy to rupture a testicle. All he did was laugh and say "Haha, I busted your ball..."
Is there someone who is inspiring this post???
We've had a few guys like that, but they never last. Our instructor will talk with them to try and get them to change their ways or will give them a nice dose of "knee of belly". Usually they get the hint and start behaving properly. A few guys have simply left to find a more "hardcore" training place. I think only one or two guys have actually been asked to leave during my time training.
Hi! Luckily we dont have that kind of guys where i train, but for sure we have a couple who actually get kind heated up when rolling, and get pissed if you are actually controlling or dominating the sparring...
I visit a lot of gyms and I have to say that it is rare to find a jerk. This is one of the reasons I love BJJ, its a very humbling art, even to the gifted among us. I have seen super competitive people and they express frustration now and again when they perceive they are "losing" but that's normal behavior to me. What sparked this was when i visited a gym and when it came time to spar, the instructor was looking for someone to roll with me and this one guy was just chomping at the bit to roll with me. the instructor chose a very skilled purple belt to roll with me and I kind of got the impression after a couple days that the guy that was itching to roll with me was a bit of a wild man that nobody really liked him and felt he was a bit "mean." I'm glad the instructor recognized this and spared me from this guy. The purple belt even told me, "yeah, you don't want to roll with that guy"

My school gives people a free week to check it out and see if they like it and we got this young guy around 22-23 who was a wrestler in HS and college. Anyway the first couple days he just learned the basics and than on the 3rd or 4th day he was allowed to roll with the rest of class. Blue belts and above were only allowed to sweep, pass or hold a position on the white belts and they were allowed to do whatever. Well he was super aggressive and when he was in a purple belts guard he picked him up and slammed him. Well the brown belt who was teaching the class saw this and instead of telling the guy not to do it he let it go and at the end of the round when we were switching told us we could apply submissions to lower belts. The guy was rolling with another purple belt who had seen what he did and when the round started the new guy tried to pick him up right away. This was all the purple belt needed and he proceeded to torture this guy for 3+ mins. Knee on belly, and not the nice knee on belly, forearm to the throat, north south with his hip bone in the guys face and he spent the last minute on the guys back with the body triangle on and the guy flat on his stomach just putting pressure on the guy until finally the guy couldnt take anymore and tapped out. I thought the guy was gonna die he was huffing and puffing so hard. Anyway that was the last we saw of him and honestly I dont think anyone cares.
god i hate people like that!! Unless you are training for a competition or you make a living of grappling or mma why be that rough????
its stupid because you are only injuring your partners
We had this one guy from BC come out. I wont name names, but his initials are Jason Gagnon. He is very sadistic. I cant stand the man myself. I tried to humble him myself but i dont think it sunk in. Granted, its hard humbling a guy who just finished choking you to the living death.
