Jiu-Jitsu has made my life complete. When I started Jiu-jitsu i was a misfit jock. despite being one of the most in shape people in my highschool no girls liked me, i was awkward and felt misplaced everywhere I went in life. I was very introverted and never felt like I fit in. When i started BJJ I realized most other people who did BJJ where weird too. You almost have to have a screw loose to want be be choked and hurt repeatedly every day. Sure enough I fell in love with the sport, made a whole bunch of lifelong friends, and developed a new confidence and became comfortable in my own skin. From an 18 year old emo whitebelt, to a 21 year confident blue belt. I have truly grown in the sport, and the sport has grown as well.
BJJ has definetly changed my life. Before BJJ I had no direction. I wasnt sure what I wanted to do with my life, and I also greatly missed haveing a sport to dedicate myself too after high school. Once I started BJJ, It was an insta-challenge. I had wrestled a bit in high school, and I hated how these guys were just dominateing me. So the only way to get over that was to train my face off, and learn to beat them. Well 3 years later, Im a purple belt, and training/teaching full time. This is definetly not just a job for me, its my career. I fully intend on haveing my own gym sometime in the future, and currently working on some sponsors so I can get down to the states and compete more, as there isnt much competition wise for me here in Canada.
I started Jiu Jitsu like a lot of people for completely different reasons then why I stayed with it. Started because I had a bad break up and wanted to beat the hell out of the larger guy that the evil ex had cheated with. But after the first class all the pretty much was forgotten as I was swept away by all the positive feelings and that awesome rush that I've learned to associate with Jiu Jitsu. turned me from a angry passive young man (I was angry over a lot of things but never did anything about it) Into a happy active individual and gave me the confidence to take action when I need to.
Best memory thanks to Jiu Jitsu is meeting my wife at class. Also when the teacher sent teddy bears wearing tiny Gi's to the hospital when my two kids were born.
I'd have to give this one to insidious, pts given

Before Jiu Jitsu, I was 11 years old and about 165lbs. After 5 1/2 years, I have gained about 40 lbs. and transferred alot of the extra fat I had over to muscle mass. I also now have a sport that I can actually say I'm somewhat good at, and I have had my teaching abilities brought out in the open by having the ability to learn and reteach with every detail almost everything my instructor has showed me.
