Are you sure it's just not a quick competency test? Some schools have been known to have "tests" just to make sure you're learning material! But most reputable school test in December for belt promotions! I hope you're not paying for the "test"

Haha, it didnt spoil it for me much. My instructor tested me last Friday. It was actually an awesome experience, better to think of it as a 2 hour private, more than it was a test. Basically I got there, I got to roll with Don for about 45 minutes, then we just worked through a bunch of positional stuff. It was awesome how he kinda broke down some of the holes in my game, and now I have some stuff to work on. It was funny also, cause usually my instructor will bring another guy so he can watch you roll as well. However it ended up being just the two of us, and I got beat down on for 2 hours...It was honestly a lot of fun...Also Dons tests are very open, theres no "required cirriculum" he just basically wants to see what your doing, and give you stuff to work on.
Oh Also I should mention theres no pass or fail. He wont test you untill he thinks your already there, thats why there is no specific testing time (ie we test just before christmas, or every summer, or whatever.) After you do the test, Don will watch you a little, and when he feels your ready or have worked on what hes given you to work on you get your promo. Sometimes its a week, sometimes its a month.

I don't know, what do you have to know to get up the belt rank. Depending on what you need to know depends on how long it will take.
