    The post has been deleted. Instructors want to make sure you'll loyal before they start handing out high level belts.

    unless your first instructor is ok with you moving from school to school. i wouldn't expect to get promoted with out a hassle. loyalty is a big thing in this world. the other part is that most schools have different criteria for different belts. i know my blue belt requirements are different from the roy harris criteria which is different from royce gracies. tournaments shouldn't have any push towards your promotion and if an instructor is trying to force you into competition. i would ask why you should have to fight for your rank. i haven't been in competition since i was a purple belt and even then i didn't enjoy it. keep your chins tucked and dont forget elbows to the floor
