And BJJ is definitely about technique over strength BUT if he bigger guy is equally as good at it as the smaller guy, the size is gonna play a role IMO. Btw, Avenged I see your from PoCo. You wouldn't happen to be doing the Revolution Tourney this weekend would you?!
Man, I honestly had no idea they were putting on a tournament this week lol. Im teaching all day Saturday and then out of town Sunday, lame...I'll be competeing at the War on the Floor tournament at the end of May, as well as the WestCoast Submissions championships June 19th.

hahaha sorry i didnt reply in time dude, i was the guy with a mohawk and blue gb gi!! hahaha. i managed to get a bronze in the 183 to 194 lb white belt division, but there were only 11 guys in it.

And btw the low carb diet a week before really helped, i was exactly where i wanted to be

ha i left after the bluebelts b/c me and my friend were getting hungry

... 3rd out of 11 guys is pretty good.. did u get to video tape any of your matches? I got the purple belt fight and some blue belts matches on tape. Also taped some of the girl fights as I trained with some of them. I think the last tourney was bigger though.

I might compete at the next tourney just for some experience (never competed before), but honestly i have a feeling i'm gonna get smoked hardcore. I just moved from Vancouver back to Surrey, so as of mid - May i will be without a proper school, had lots of fun training at GB Vancouver (was a 5 minute drive from my old place), not sure if i will go back to Revolution or not... or maybe just continue at GB (but thats like 45 minutes from my current place).

Yah, the Revolution gym is nice as hell. The weight area is stacked with good equipment as well as that grass area where you can do some good circuit training. As for bjj, most guys there are cross training for mma, i prefer to just train straight up gi bjj. Still gotta figure things out as some of my bjj buddies don't really train at revolution anymore. And they rearranged their class schedule so that doesn't work for me either.

I wanted to ask, does Jorden make you guys wear the GB kimonos??? the one thing i hate about GB is not being allowed to wear non-GB uniforms, but i guess that's their rules... i just bought a new gi like a week before i joined GB and only got to roll in it once!

Awh ya missed me!! hahaha. But seriously do compete at the next one, its amazing experience no matter what happens. You're a blue belt right?

And about GB, even at our place getting the GB kimono is kind of pushed on you, especially for tournaments. But he doesn't MAKE you wear them, I know some guys who wear Vulcan, or Budo, or Fushida while they train at GB Kelowna. The GB gis are so so so pricy hey?! And btw, the Revolution guys had their own Rev Kimonos so I thought they were definitely big into Gi BJJ!?
