When I first started, I knew Jiu-Jitsu is where the stuff that worked in a fight. I was motivated by Royce in the early UFC's and wanted to learn the art. These days, I don't worry about belts or rankings. All I want to do is choke guys that are bigger and stronger than me.
Self defense exercise and fitness
Actually a friend of mine had been doing BJJ for a couple years and one night we were out on the patio of a bar and some drunk a-hole started talking trash to him because, to be honest, he's really effeminate and seems like he's gay, which he isn't, but anyway...eventually they were screaming in each other's faces and all hell broke loose. The guy started swinging on him. Lance (my friend) got him with a double-leg, got the mount, and immediately choked the dude unconscious with his own jacket!!! hahaha I was literally standing there with my mouth hanging open in total shock just like all of the other onlookers. Seeing some guy who is about 5' 7" and weighs about 135 lbs and looks like a total limp-wristed flaming homo (no offense) choke out a dude that was about 6' 175lbs -ish, in less than a minute!!!!! I was sold. It was one of the coolest things I've ever seen in my life!! I also never teased Lance again about how i could whoop his ass regardless of his BJJ experience! hahaha
I just wanted the noise in my head to stop......A 7 years ago I went through a really bad time in my life the girls left me took my son lost my job life sucked and I wanted to smash everyone I saw and the noise in my would NOT STOP,I had a few friends rolling and one asked me to come down and told me it might stop the noise,so I did and was he right I could finally think clearly.....I never had any real training just rolled around with these guys for a few months...
Now 7 years later I decided to join a school and really get into it....I love this stuff and I wish I would have joined 7 years ago
I started jiu jitsu out of curiosity, so with that, i decided to do my senior project for highschool on jiu jitsu. I've been here ever since, and can honestly say it has changed me.

I wanted to be a Cage fighter, and BJJ seemed to be the best way to attain that. I Have a 3-o ammy record and am now unofficially retired from MMA, to pursue BJJ full time. I have 3 loves in my life, God, My girlfriend and BJJ. BJJ is the greatest thing that ever happened to me, it has become a lifestyle I eat, sleep and breathe jiu jitsu, i went to nursing school and got a job working 2 days a week (saturday and sunday) for 16 hours each day so i could have monday-friday off to train... Im also planning a move to Atlanta Georgia to train at the famous alliance gym. I plan to achieve greatness in the sport someday. Its so amazing I'm just happy to be a part of the worlds BEST sport!!
had been messing around with friends learning on our own but never committed to a gym, same friends joined up and was only a matter of time till i was in there. after the first "real" class i've been hooked ever since.
i started to do jj cause i got tired of getting man handled at work. im in the navy and when we go out to sea its a lot of wrestling and body slaming going on. Now i just do it of the fun of it
I started because of interest of the art and a way to lose some weight...both of these are working!! Our GJJ team is great! I'm 41 & have no aspirations of competing. I train for the art & gain some self-defense in the process. Stay safe all...
just to be some type of fighter. 2 people go in, and one man gets there hand raised, the other doesn't. the ultimate test of strength, cardio, flexibility, speed, technique, and nature born talent.
