Jesus man, that's insane. Glad everything worked out for you and you were able to not only walk, but find this great sport!
Well I've always loved martial arts and such, the coolest stuff was karate and kung-fu movies back when I was starting schoolI did some wrestling and boxing... When I was 17 I saw this awesome UFC highlight video and fell in love. Then I downloaded Wanderlei's fights in amounts! I wanted to be like him and start doing thaiboxing and bjj. In the army I got a chance to try a little of both, I actually liked grappling better but didn't want to admit it to myself, because thaiboxing was much cooler
I came out of the army and started googling a proper gym... nothing close to where I lived. A thaiboxing school 30 miles away, so I enrolled there. Trained for maybe 6 months or so until I found out about a very good gym 35 miles away from where I lived and want to start training bjj too! I whent there and trained a few times and tried to combine bjj and muay thai, but as there was 60 miles between the schools, it was a pain in the ass to drive to training in one city and then to another city 3-4 times a week. So I decided to choose bjj. Here we are now, soon I've been doing this for 5 years![]()
Started dating a girl who was a black belt in karate, she invited me to a grappling class. Got hooked searched out the only jujitsu school in my area. That was lest than a year ago and still training harder and harder everyday.
I started MMA because my friend wnated me to. I didn't like the idea of grappling or punching to the head but for some reason I went there and loved it.
Did one amateur MMA fight and moved back to my home town. MMA and BJJ was at the same gym here and I wanted to have three stripes on my white belt because the friend who introduced me to MMA had (and still has) two. I never got my stripes on my white. STill loving to grapple and want to go to MMA classes again.![]()
Where did you start to train Janne? I tought you always lived in Jyväskylä, you're sucha a local hero
PS. but you got your 3 stripes on your blue instead of the white![]()
I started training BJJ in Iisalmi last spring, mainly because of my friends request. I always had interest in martial arts and I already had planned in army that I would start practising MMA in Jyväskylä, where I was going to study. It felt easier to attend basic course same time with a friend, so I accepted his offer. At that time there wasn't any MMA's basic course, only BJJ's. I had some doubts about BJJ, but I knew that grappling plays a major role in MMA so I decided to give it a try. At first time practising I was impressed how efficient it seemed to be. I've trained ever since. I trained spring and summer in Iisalmi. Then my first year in university started and I moved into Jyväskylä. I train now here while studying and I'm also starting to train MMA soon![]()
i was making some bad choices the end of my sophmore year and the begining of my junior year of high school(im a senior now). so i decided i needed something to keep me busy and keep me away from those bad things. it worked but then recently i didnt go for the whole month of novermber.....i stepped right back into that life i got caught up and now im training 5 times a week. this sport keeps my life steady. i know it might not be the healthiest of things that i just jump right back into an old lifestyle i know i need self control and all of that but hey bjj worksplus i get a great body out of it!
To grope other men and dominate them both physically and erotically....I mean......I just wanted to learn some ground game to go with my stand-up game. Was in boxing and kung fu.![]()
I saw Royce defeat all comers in the first 4 UFC's in the 90's when I was young, I instantly knew that was the martial art I wanted to do. At the time I was in Tae Kwon Do and a brown belt. I ended up blowing out my knee snowboarding and that ended my TKD career. I had been studying off and on through books for many years until I found Gracie University online, and I have been not looked back and been loving every minute of it. I'm 6 months in of 2-3 days a week. So still new at it.
