Personaly the more I think about it the less liekly I want to see BJJ in the actual olympics.. I expect they will impose too many rule changes..
If you are in the Scranton Area of PA and are having trouble finding instruction or training partners or simply can not afford the training that is provided in Scranton.. Contact me. I am starting a BJJ club under the direction of a Jorge Gurgel Black Belt.

Is this still even a possibility? Isn't there some deadline for the IOC to approve new sports?
BTW I think underwater basket weaving has a better chance of getting to the olympics before we do. There are too many passionate people in bjj who want to protect the sport.
For 2016, no, there is no possibility whatsoever that BJJ will be an Olympic event: there is no room. However, it could potentially be featured as part of a tournament running in parallel with the games (which as far as I'm aware is the intention of JJI), therefore still benefitting to a degree from the media exposure.
Personally, my suport is still behind FILA's attempt to make a rule set they call 'grappling' part of the Olympics. FILA already has the structures in place, as a longstanding organisation well acquainted with Olympic standards, and 'grappling' would pose no threat to the rule system of BJJ (as like I said earlier, BJJers would be merely one among various grappling styles possessing the relevant skills to take part in FILA's event).
Having said that, I certainly wouldn't be averse to seeing a well-run BJJ tournament in Rio during the 2016 Games, which would certainly bring our sport to much wider attention.
I have to tell you guys the truth.
I was not so fond of the idea of pushing jiu-jitsu to Olympics when it was first introduced to me via internet. I still don't think Olympics is the right place for Jiu-Jitsu or Jiu-Jitsu the right sport for Olympics.
but I had a good conversation yesterday with Gilson Fernandes and I have to say that I totally support JJI ond its goals to have jiu-jitsu as a respected sport and making it with organised federation structure.
Gilson is a good guy and talking with him face to face opened my eyes for JJI. I see big things in future with JJI.
awwww Gilson,,, Damn Janne we need to just join the same team you keep training with the same guys I am
Gilson has some great stories, hes got 2 of the greatest jobs, he is the most respected ref in Brasil and trains the police in Rio. If any of you get the chance to train with him, he is good at understanding your game and breaking down what is good for you. he spent alot of time tweaking some of my game. he will roll with you until someone puts the lock on the door.
Finally it will be in the Olympics, it should be in the next one hoasted in Brazil though, but what ever.
"It would be a dream come true to have BJJ in the olympics" this was my first tought but then i saw what they are doing to Judo now I'm kind of in the midlle, what we call in Brasil in the top of the fence. I want to have a chance to participate in the olympics but I'm afraid to everything that can change in BJJ.
