I have a thread like this one over at MMAForum that has been very successful.
The general idea is to field questions about basic BJJ and submission grappling that people have to give beginners some thoughts about the stuff that they should be working on (since they tend to get caught up in crazy, advanced stuff when they get on the internet).
Anybody can feel free to post questions, and anybody can feel free to post responses. I know that there are a lot of smart guys on here, so the insight is definitely appreciated.
so i can post a question here? and people can answer them?
my question is, what is this 'switch' that Joe Rogan always refers to during fights, i think i have an idea of what it is, but i want to know the technical in's and out's of how to make it perfect, video would help too. TIA!

Has anyone actually caught someone in an armbar from guard. My partners always see it coming, how can i bait them into it?
I have .. almost landed one the other night.. he even saw it coming but the way I set it up mot much he could have done unless he knows an armbar escape.. he was save by time running out..

I catch it all the time...The trick is misdirection...you need to make your opponent think you attacking something diffrent so he forgets to defend the arm. lots of times for example I start with a high collar grip and threaten the neck, or I work I control 1 arm and the back on his had to get my high guard, start to work for triangles and then slap on the arm bar
funny stroy I wa playin around last night with this 3 stripe white, and lazily used the collar to set up the arm bar, anyways I grabbed a leg with the 1 arm, and was just try to sweep him over. So i started breaking his posture and bumping him (just trying to move to mount) and he started screaming (he was ok) but I guess I hit the sweet spot.
Lol.

Thanks, thats what I was looking for. I am going to work on that.
Or just use you forceI'm pretty flexible, so I used to do armbars from guard by taking a really strong overhook and grabbing his opposite collar. Then just force the armbar on overhooked arm
You need to let the overhook loosen alittle when moving you leg over his head.
Now that I've learned some tricks, I usually threaten with a sweep or a collar choke and slap on the armbar. It's my favorite submission from guard, besides collar chokes.
I like the armbar from guard and can catch it every now and then against lesser experienced guys. I have short legs and my guard game is not the best, but gi chokes...Standard cross choke and arm wrap choke are both fairly high percentage for me. They also set up sweeps so I can get to my happy place a.k.a. side control.
The BJJ dojo I train in does a lot of rolling. I really enjoy it, but would love an entire class devoted to drilling techniques. We do that for an hour straight where I train Judo, but the quality of ground fighting is much higher at the BJJ school. Tonight we worked on ezequiel choke, which is one of my favorites. Well, actually I love all gi chokes, byt ezequiel has been good to me. It was really fun having all the new guys try to pull it off during rolls against my non-existant neck.
